Shake, Rattle and Roll
Yes we experienced the earthquake Friday morning. At 4:36a.m. Erich and I woke up to the house shaking and a low rumbling outside. At first we were very confused. I thought a plane was landing on the house or there was a tornado going down our street. Erich thought the kids were running up and down the stairs or something strange like that. (he's normally confused when he first wakes up anyways so it was a typical morning for him.) Once everything settled down we figured it could have been an earthquake but c'mon...what were the chances? So we turned the t.v. on and there was no reports for about the first 30 minutes. Soon after that they started reporting. What a strange thing to have happen. When you live in central IL you REALLY don't expect to experience and earthquake!! There was an aftershock about 10:15 a.m. but neither I nor Erich felt it. Apparently on the other side of the store that Erich works in, THEY felt it but he nor anyone near his office did. I was on the road at the time so I obviously did not feel anything.

Oh, NOW I Remember
Oh now I remember why I only have two kids.
Today I've been watching my dear friend Amy's two year old and 5 yr old. I've forgotten how the aroma of a 'just pooped pants' permiates the air. (especially when cooped up in our little playroom) I've almost forgotten how to change a poopy diaper. YUCK. I've forgotten the rare language that two year olds speak.
I can't believe how long it takes to get 4 kids out the door, buckled up and settled down. I can't believe how different boys are than girls. I can't believe how expensive it was for 4 happy meals at McDonalds so the kids could run around and burn off some energy!
Amy's dear little 5 yr old, Gabe, is a uber sensitive little boy. He crys at everything. It breaks my heart. He misses his mom so much he can barely stand it. Add this to Reagan who decided at the same time Gabe was crying, to teach the 2 yr old to spit from the banister. Compile that with McKinley having a pee pee accident right before walking out the door to swimming lesson PLUS have a 2 year old with diarreah...ALL AT THE SAME TIME. (lest I mention a husband who had a chipped tooth fixed today acting like he just had open hear surgery) Today I can be confident that I am the ONLY sane one in my family.
The good news is that at least I know I can do it for ONE day if I absolutely need to!!
So, MiMi, Papa, Oma and Opa please do not hold your breath for any more grandchildren from me any time soon. I'll need a week to recover from this day.
